Alisha Sunny: A Child Carrying Responsibility and Hope
Alisha Sunny: A Child Carrying Responsibility and Hope Alisha Sunny is only 11, but life has already placed responsibilities on her that most children should never have to carry. After her father became disabled in a tragic accident and later passed away, and her mother left the family, Alisha suddenly became the primary caregiver for her three younger siblings. Even in the middle of this heavy reality, she continues to walk into school with one clear dream in her heart: to become a doctor. For children like Alisha, education is not just about learning. It is about hope. It is about dignity. It is about the possibility of a different future. Yet for many vulnerable children in Pakistan, even something as basic as a textbook is out of reach. At Chopan Trust, we are committed to changing this reality. Through our Textbook Support Initiative, we aim to provide textbooks to 3,000 children studying in low-cost community schools who would otherwise struggle to stay in education. By God’s grace and through the generosity of our partners, we have already provided textbooks to 1,300 children across 6 schools: But 1,700 children are still waiting. Each textbook is more than paper and ink. It is a message to a child like Alisha that says: you are not forgotten, your education matters, and your dream has value. With every book placed in a child’s hands, we place hope into their future.
