Assessment for Learning Workshop at Chopan Trust Training Center On 17th January 2025, the Chopan Trust Training Center hosted a highly engaging and insightful one-day workshop on “Assessment for Learning.” The esteemed Ma’am Riffat, Principal of the A-Level Section at Kingston College facilitated the session. Twenty-five dedicated teachers from four different schools in Lahore and Kasur attended the workshop, making it a vibrant and collaborative learning experience. A Focus on Innovative, Activity-Based Learning The workshop’s central theme revolved around innovative, activity-based approaches to “Assessment for Learning”—a key pedagogical strategy to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. Ma’am Riffat brought her vast experience and expertise to the session, ensuring that the participants remained engaged and actively involved throughout the day. Through hands-on activities, discussions, and group tasks, participants explored the core concepts of assessment for learning. The session’s interactive nature allowed teachers to absorb the theoretical aspects and practice and refine their skills in real time. Spreading Christmas Cheer: Bringing Warmth and Joy to Children in Need

Inspired by the sight of children working in brick kilns in Village Hangarwal, Anser felt compelled to bring some Christmas joy into their lives. He envisioned a celebration where children from schools and brick kilns could come together, showcase their talents through a vibrant program, and enjoy a festive lunch. The dream was to also provide each child with a warm sweater to combat the harsh winter weather. And so, Chopan Trust embarked on a mission to spread warmth and cheer. Our Christmas celebration brought together over 1000 children and 100+ teachers, filling the auditorium with laughter and festive music. The children’s performances were a delightful showcase of their talents, creating lasting memories for all. 0-0x0-0-0# Our outreach extended beyond the celebration. We traveled to brick kilns in Manga Mandi and Kasur, distributing warm sweaters to hundreds of children and providing them with nutritious lunches. 0-0x0-0-0# We also visited two orphanages: Sara Grace Home and New Hope for Life Shelter Home, where we provided warm sweaters and brought the spirit of Christmas to the children residing there. The Meal Program by Chopan Trust.

The meal program started in Sada e Pakistan school, Faisalabad, has been served among 161 children and 14 staff members which were 175 persons total. The comments from teachers :Teachers were very happy to serve the children first and then to eat by themselves. The were willing and sharing that they would like be the part of this activity again. They also said that they would like to include the Indome noodles in their regular meal because it’ s not only healthy for children but also for adults as well. Children were happy to eat the Indome noodles with egg and they sharing that they feeling more energetic than regular meal. So we would love to eat again.

Chopan’s Action against Poverty

Sometimes it is right to be angry about poverty, especially among God’s children No one should have to live in a “house” like this. We received this appeal from a friend of Chopan:“Sir, we need your help for this lady because she has no good shelter. She is living in flex shelter.When rain comes everything wet by rain… Please prayer must for this lady, she is so much helpless… Kamran, a painter on daily wages, his wife Kiran and their two children, lived in this condition for 17 Years. The Chopan Trustfound donors to help construct a small room for them. It didn’t cost much but it made a home for the winter for this small family. Praise God, construction of the house is in progress.

Giving a Happy Christmas to 1,000 children

Moved by the photo of these children of brick kiln workers in Village Hangarwal, Anser determined togive them a Happy Christmas. He wrote:“We can gather all the children from schools and brick kilns, give opportunities for the children to perform a variety program, celebrating Christmas — and lunch at the end. If possible we will give a gift of a warm school sweater to use during the winter weather (cost: about £3 / $4 each). Planning for the celebration Anser, Kashi and the team of volunteers planning for the Great Christmas event: 17th December,Don Bosco Technical Training Centre, Youhanabad, Lahore “So far reached to 1200 children for the Christmas programme from 7 schools – still not included children from the Hangarwal brick kiln.”
